Tinubu Renews Appointment of Audi as NSCDC Commandant-General
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed the tenure of Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi as the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for another five-year term, the Statehouse announced on Friday. The reappointment took effect from February 27.
Dr. Audi, who first assumed the role in 2021 under former President Muhammadu Buhari, concluded his initial term last Friday while participating in the 2026 World Civil Defence Day activities at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja. He is set to resume full duties on Monday with a renewed mandate.
President Tinubu tasked Dr. Audi with repositioning the NSCDC to play a more strategic role in national security, particularly as the Nigerian Police refocuses on combating banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism.
