NAF Airstrikes Eliminate Dozens of ISWAP/Boko Haram Terrorists in Gwoza Operation
The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has neutralised more than 50 suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters following precision air strikes on their withdrawal routes after a failed assault on Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources disclosed that the insurgents launched a coordinated attack at about 7:30 p.m. on March 3, targeting artillery positions in Ngoshe, located approximately 12 kilometres from Pulka and 31 kilometres from Gwoza town.
According to the sources, the terrorists attempted to overrun the artillery formation in a surprise evening offensive. Troops on ground reportedly mounted a strong resistance but carried out a tactical withdrawal under heavy fire to safeguard personnel and equipment while reinforcements were being mobilised.
The attackers were said to have adopted a hit-and-withdraw tactic, fleeing the scene before additional troops fully secured the area.
Reinforcement units were immediately deployed, while aerial surveillance platforms tracked the fleeing insurgents along identified withdrawal corridors.

Upon receiving real-time intelligence from ground forces, air assets were deployed to engage the terrorists as they retreated. The insurgents were observed moving in clusters across two locations, after which precision bombardments were conducted on confirmed targets and movement trails.
Battle Damage Assessment from the strikes indicated that more than 50 terrorists were neutralised during two separate strike missions.
Military sources emphasised that the coordinated air-ground response ensured that the insurgents, despite attempting to escape into forested enclaves, were decisively engaged. The strikes also reportedly disrupted their logistics network and mobility along the Ngoshe–Pulka corridor.
Clearance and area domination operations are ongoing to prevent any regrouping by the insurgents.
The Ngoshe–Gwoza axis has historically remained volatile due to intermittent activities by Boko Haram and ISWAP remnants, who exploit the difficult terrain and proximity to cross-border forest zones.
Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its resolve to sustain offensive pressure against terrorist elements in the North-East, warning that any attack on military positions would attract overwhelming and coordinated firepower.
Residents of Gwoza and neighbouring communities were assured of the military’s continued commitment to protecting lives, supporting resettlement efforts, and consolidating gains achieved in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign in Borno State.
