How Modern Weapons Are Boosting Army’s Fight Against Insecurity in Benue – COAS Shaibu
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Waidi Shaibu, has highlighted the Nigerian Army’s ongoing efforts to bolster security operations in Benue State, emphasizing that the acquisition of modern weapons and critical military equipment—provided by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu—will enhance the operational effectiveness of troops in tackling emerging security threats.
Shaibu made the remarks on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Makurdi, where he met with the state governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia. The visit focused on strengthening collaboration between the Army and the state government to address insecurity and reinforce ongoing military initiatives.
“The Nigerian Army is committed to delivering improved security outcomes across Benue and other regions of the country,” Shaibu said. “The acquisition of modern combat enablers, made possible through the support of President Tinubu, significantly boosts the operational capacity of our troops.”

Governor Alia welcomed the visit, describing it as timely and reassuring. He lauded the Nigerian Army for its dedication to safeguarding lives and property and reaffirmed his administration’s support for the deployment of additional troops to reinforce ongoing operations.
