Troops Eliminate 3 Bandits in Katsina, Defuse IED in Zamfara
Troops of Operation Fansan Yanma have intensified their offensive against criminal elements in the North-West, neutralising three suspected bandits in Katsina State and safely detonating an improvised explosive device (IED) in neighbouring Zamfara State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the bandits were neutralised on March 4 at about 4:14 p.m. during a gun battle in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The incident occurred after suspected armed bandits attacked a farmer, Alaramma Lawal Musa, 34, from Barkinshi Village, while he was on his way to his farm on the outskirts of the community.
According to the sources, the farmer resisted the attack and managed to stab one of the assailants with a knife before the bandits inflicted severe machete cuts on him.
Troops stationed at Super Camp Machika were immediately alerted and swiftly mobilised to the scene.

The troops also recovered a Honda motorcycle believed to have been used by the bandits for their operations in the area.
The injured farmer was later evacuated to the Comprehensive Hospital in Dandume for medical treatment and is reported to be responding well.
In a related development, military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts on March 3 safely neutralised an improvised explosive device planted between Yar Danya and Maikwanugga villages in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The device was discovered along a key village route, prompting a swift response from the EOD team, which successfully detonated the IED at about 2:00 p.m., preventing potential harm to residents and commuters.
Following the operation, troops of Operation Fansan Yanma and other security forces have intensified patrols and surveillance in the affected areas to track fleeing suspects and prevent further threats.
Operation Fansan Yanma has continued to sustain military offensives against banditry and other criminal activities across the North-West region.
