Civic Leaders Applaud Lagos CP Jimoh Moshood for Improved Security and Professional Policing
Prominent civic leaders and organisations, have commended the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh Moshood for his leadership, professionalism, and the significant improvements in public safety recorded under his administration.
The first commendation came from The National Patriots, signed by its President, Princess Gloria Adebajo‑Fraser, MFR, who described Moshood’s tenure as “a model of disciplined, intelligence‑driven and rights‑respecting policing” in one of Africa’s most complex megacities.
Adebajo‑Fraser noted that policing Lagos—home to more than 20 million residents and a daily influx of millions more—requires exceptional strategic coordination. She commended the Command’s recovery of over 100 illegal firearms, including AK‑47 rifles, through intelligence‑led raids on criminal hideouts across the state. These operations, she said, “significantly disrupted criminal networks and strengthened public confidence in law enforcement.”
She also highlighted the Command’s successful management of major public and international events—marathons, cycling competitions, fashion and culinary festivals—without major security incidents, attributing the stability to “careful planning and adherence to global policing standards.”

The National Patriots further praised the Commissioner’s balanced approach to public order, especially the handling of protests and civic demonstrations “with restraint, professionalism, and respect for constitutional freedoms.” In recognition of his service, the organisation conferred on him the “Police Officer Par Excellence Award.”
In a separate letter, Mrs. Nkechi Thelma Oseni, Programs Coordinator of the Christian Council of Nigeria, also commended Moshood for what she described as “renewed professionalism, intelligence‑driven policing, and visible security presence” since he assumed office.
Oseni applauded the Command’s decisive actions against cultism and organised crime, including the arrest of major gang leaders, which she said had restored a sense of safety in several communities. She further praised the Commissioner’s embrace of innovation, citing the deployment of surveillance cameras and improved communication systems as steps that align Lagos policing with global best practices.
She also acknowledged the Command’s professionalism during elections and other sensitive periods, noting that maintaining peace in a city as dynamic as Lagos “requires discipline, planning, and strong leadership.”
Oseni encouraged the Commissioner to continue promoting inclusiveness within the Force, particularly by ensuring that deserving female officers are appointed as Divisional Police Officers (DPOs). She described Lagos as “the economic nerve centre of Nigeria” and stressed that sustaining its security “is no small task.”
Both letters emphasised that Lagos has witnessed improved safety, strengthened community trust, and enhanced operational efficiency under Moshood’s leadership.
