Troops Destroy IPOB/ESN Hideouts, Recover IED Materials in Anambra
Troops of Operation UDO KA have cleared suspected hideouts belonging to members of the Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network, during a coordinated offensive in Ihiala Local Government Area.
Security sources said the operation was carried out on March 13 by troops of Section 5, Operation UDO KA, with support from a detachment of the Nigerian Navy stationed in Onitsha.
According to the sources, the troops launched a mounted advance into the Oraumoghu general area following intelligence indicating that suspected IPOB/ESN fighters were operating from concealed camps within the locality.

The operation involved the deployment of four Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and a bulldozer to assist in clearing suspected militant camps and obstacles along the route.
During the advance, the troops encountered improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by the suspected militants, apparently aimed at obstructing the movement of security forces.
One of the IEDs detonated during the operation, affecting the bulldozer deployed for the clearance mission. However, the equipment was later recovered and safely returned to base.
A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of four IED batteries and several sharp metal fragments believed to be components used in the fabrication of explosive devices.
The troops later secured the area and maintained operational dominance to deny the suspected militants freedom of movement and operational capability within the axis.
