JUST IN: FG Declares Thursday, Friday Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr
The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration, signalling the end of the Ramadan fast.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.

He urged adherents to uphold the core values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice cultivated during the holy month.
Tunji-Ojo also called on Nigerians to use the festive period to offer prayers for national peace, unity, and continued prosperity.
While extending best wishes for a joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration, he encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and show compassion to the less privileged.
The minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.
