FRSC Moves to Tackle Rising Accidents Along AYA–Nyanya Axis, Deploys Tactical Team
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed a high-level tactical team to the AYA–Nyanya Expressway in Abuja in a decisive move to address recurring road traffic crashes along the busy corridor.
The development was announced in a statement issued on March 18, 2026, by Felicia Kalu, Corps Commander and Acting Corps Public Education Officer, at the FRSC National Headquarters, Abuja.
According to the statement, the directive was given by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, following a series of disturbing incidents that have heightened safety concerns on the route, a major gateway into the Federal Capital Territory.
The tactical team, led by Assistant Corps Marshal (Operations), Olusegun Ogungbemide, has been mandated to carry out a comprehensive, on-the-spot assessment of the factors responsible for the crashes and to recommend immediate, evidence-based solutions.

The intervention underscores the FRSC leadership’s commitment to proactive and intelligence-driven road safety management, with a focus on preventing accidents rather than reacting after they occur. The Corps noted that the move is part of ongoing efforts to identify systemic risks, eliminate hazards, and strengthen operational presence on critical routes.
Describing the AYA–Nyanya corridor as a strategic entry point into the nation’s capital, the FRSC said the deployment reflects a zero-tolerance stance against preventable road crashes.
The initiative also forms part of the ongoing Eid-el-Fitr Special Patrol operations aimed at ensuring seamless traffic flow, reduced travel time, and safer journeys for commuters during the festive period. By integrating tactical investigation with intensified patrols, the Corps seeks to deliver real-time solutions to emerging road safety challenges.
The Corps Marshal reiterated that road safety is a shared responsibility and called on motorists, commuters, and pedestrians to cooperate with the tactical team and comply strictly with traffic regulations.
He assured the motoring public that the Corps would continue to adopt innovative strategies, strategically deploy resources, and respond swiftly to evolving threats to public safety.
