NAF Bombs Terrorist Base in Abirma, Repels Attack in Malam Fatori
The Nigerian Air Force has destroyed Terrorists stronghold in Abirma and repelled an attempted infiltration by insurgents at Malam Fatori in Borno State, in a series of coordinated air and ground operations.
The strikes, conducted under Operation Hadin Kai, followed credible Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) that confirmed the presence of terrorist fighters within Abirma, a known insurgent enclave in the southern axis of the Lake Chad region.
According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Ehimen Ejodame, aerial surveillance revealed movements of insurgents around concealed structures hidden under dense vegetation.
He said NAF air assets, after rigorous target verification, executed precision strikes on the identified locations using guided munitions, resulting in the destruction of multiple Terrorists structures.
“The targets were engaged with precision munitions, leading to the destruction of key Terrorists infrastructure and disruption of their activities in the area,” he said.

Preliminary battle damage assessment indicated that the strikes significantly degraded the terrorists’ ability to use the location as a staging ground for attacks within the Lake Chad Basin.
In a related development, NAF air assets, working in close coordination with ground troops, neutralised several terrorists fighters during a foiled infiltration attempt at Malam Fatori in Abadam Local Government Area.
The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, was swiftly repelled, preventing the insurgents from breaching defensive positions and reinforcing ongoing efforts to stabilise border communities.
The Air Force said the operations underscored its sustained reliance on intelligence-driven precision air power to support ground forces and dismantle terrorist networks across the North-East.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustaining air operations aimed at protecting lives and denying criminal elements freedom of action.
He added that all operations are conducted in line with established Rules of Engagement and international standards on civilian harm mitigation.
