Troops Nab Spy, Arrest 2 Terror Suspects in Cross River, Plateau
Nigerian troops have recorded fresh operational successes in Cross River and Plateau states, arresting a suspected spy and two suspected terrorists while recovering weapons and ammunition in separate operations.
In Cross River, troops of Operation UDO KA apprehended a suspected spy attempting to infiltrate a military defensive position in Obubra Local Government Area.
Security sources disclosed that the suspect was arrested at about 9:55 a.m. on Wednesday at Isabang settlement while allegedly conducting reconnaissance on troops’ locations.
The arrest was carried out by personnel of the 245 Battalion during a routine security sweep. Items recovered from the suspect include a locally made pistol, a cutlass, a torchlight, and two mobile phones.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect confessed to being sent by a criminal group to gather intelligence within the community.

He also reportedly provided actionable intelligence, including identifying one Christopher Emmanuel, also known as “Black Stone,” as a member of the group responsible for a recent attack on troops in the area.
Following the arrest, troops intensified aggressive patrols across the Odonget general area and surrounding communities to deter further hostile activities.
In a separate operation in Plateau State, troops under Operation Safe Haven arrested two suspected terrorists in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
The suspects were apprehended at about 4:21 p.m. on Wednesday by Sector 4 troops of Operation Peace Enforcement (OPEP) at Gashish, along Kafu Abu Road, following credible intelligence.
Subsequent search operations at the suspects’ residence in Kadok village led to the recovery of two dane guns, one locally fabricated pistol, two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and one live cartridge.
The suspects are currently in custody, while the recovered weapons have been secured for further investigation.
Security sources reaffirmed the commitment of the armed forces to sustaining ongoing operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks, curbing insecurity, and restoring lasting peace across affected areas.
