Eid El-Fitr: CAS Commends Troops, Reinforces Commitment to Defeat Terrorism
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) unwavering commitment to sustaining decisive air operations against terrorists elements in the North-East, even as personnel marked the end of Ramadan with an Eid-el-Fitr luncheon in Maiduguri.
The event, held on Saturday at the NAF Base in Maiduguri, brought together air force personnel, senior military officers, and government officials to celebrate the successful completion of the fasting period while recognising the sacrifices of troops engaged in ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
Represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal AY Abdullahi, the CAS conveyed his goodwill and commended personnel for their professionalism, resilience, and dedication in a complex and evolving operational environment.
Also present at the luncheon was the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, who was represented by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar.

In his address, Air Marshal Aneke highlighted the dynamic nature of current security threats, noting that insurgent groups continue to adopt desperate and adaptive tactics to destabilise the region. He, however, assured that the NAF remains resolute, leveraging intelligence-led strategies to sustain operational superiority.
He detailed ongoing air operations, including precision strikes, close air support, armed reconnaissance, and interdiction missions, which he said have significantly degraded terrorist capabilities, disrupted supply chains, and constrained their operational mobility across the theatre of operations.
The CAS further emphasised the Service’s commitment to maintaining operational momentum through enhanced inter-agency collaboration, the induction of advanced air platforms, and the deployment of precision-guided weapon systems. He also underscored continued investments in personnel welfare and capacity development as critical to mission success.
Paying tribute to fallen personnel, he acknowledged their sacrifices as central to ongoing efforts to restore peace in the region. He also expressed appreciation to President and Commander-in-Chief, the defence leadership, and the Borno State Government for their sustained support to military operations.
The gathering, attended by senior officers and dignitaries, underscored the Nigerian Air Force’s enduring resolve to achieve lasting peace, stability, and security in the North-East.
