IGP Disu Decorates 13 AIGs, 17 CPs, Preaches Discipline, Accountability
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Monday decorated 30 newly promoted senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force, comprising 13 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 17 Commissioners of Police (CPs).
The decoration ceremony, held at the within the Force Headquarters in , followed the recent promotion of 84 senior officers across various ranks.
The promotion exercise also saw the elevation of 54 officers from the ranks of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership within the Force.

Addressing the newly decorated officers, Disu described the promotions as a recognition of merit, discipline, and demonstrated capacity. He stressed that the advancement was not merely a reward, but a strategic move to enhance leadership effectiveness in response to the country’s evolving security demands.
The police chief charged the officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, warning that the Force would maintain zero tolerance for indiscipline, corruption, and dereliction of duty.
Reiterating his reform agenda, the IGP emphasized the importance of people-oriented policing, noting that respect for human rights and community engagement remain central to modern policing operations.
He further announced that all newly promoted AIGs would participate in a mandatory Strategic Leadership Retreat scheduled to commence on March 24, 2026. The programme, organised in collaboration with the , is aimed at strengthening leadership capacity and promoting contemporary policing ethics among senior officers.
The ceremony marks another step in the ongoing restructuring and professionalisation drive within the Nigeria Police Force.
