APC Convention to Affirm Renewed Hope Agenda — Information Minister
The Federal Government on Thursday said the forthcoming national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will underscore the party’s unity, democratic maturity, and commitment to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this during a World Media Briefing organised by the party ahead of its 8th National Convention, scheduled to hold from March 27 to 28, 2026, in Abuja.
The briefing, held in Abuja, brought together key government officials and party stakeholders to outline preparations and expectations for the high-stakes gathering.
Idris described the convention as a defining moment for the ruling party, noting that it would convene delegates from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for leadership elections, policy engagement, and strategic direction-setting.
“The convention is not just a routine exercise, but a moment of reflection, consolidation, and forward planning. It represents our collective resolve to strengthen democratic values, deepen internal governance, and align party processes with national development priorities,” he said.
He explained that the convention, themed “Unity in Progress – Consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda,” reflects the APC’s commitment to cohesion, continuity, and clarity of purpose, while reinforcing its alignment with the administration’s broader governance vision.
According to the minister, the APC has evolved into a resilient political platform anchored on progressive ideals, national cohesion, and inclusive governance, having weathered multiple electoral cycles and complex national challenges.

He stressed that the party has consistently demonstrated its capacity to manage leadership transitions in an orderly and structured manner, backed by strengthened internal mechanisms that promote accountability and stakeholder participation.
“The APC continues to evolve as a broad-based political platform that accommodates diverse perspectives while maintaining unity of purpose. This diversity remains a key strength in advancing national development and democratic consolidation,” Idris added.
The minister further disclosed that all logistical and operational arrangements have been concluded to ensure a seamless, transparent, and credible convention at Eagle Square, Abuja.
He assured Nigerians and the international community that the exercise would meet global democratic standards, reflecting discipline, organisation, and adherence to established norms.
“As the convention approaches, the APC reaffirms its unity and collective responsibility. This gathering will showcase our commitment to democratic ideals, organisational discipline, and inclusive decision-making,” he said.
Idris also commended President Tinubu for his role in the founding and growth of the APC, as well as his leadership in fostering inclusivity within the party and driving governance reforms.
He reiterated the party’s commitment to building a stronger and more united Nigeria anchored on accountability, inclusiveness, and a clear vision for progress.
Dignitaries at the briefing included Chairman of the Central Coordinating Committee and former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo; and presidential aides such as Sunday Dare and Bayo Onanuga, alongside other top party officials.
