“We Will Not Give Terrorists Breathing Space” — COAS Tells Troops in Bauchi
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has directed troops to sustain relentless and intelligence-driven operations against terrorists and other criminal elements, declaring that the Nigerian Army will not allow insurgents any respite in ongoing military offensives.
Speaking during an operational visit to troops at the Headquarters Nigerian Army Armour Corps and 33 Artillery Brigade in Shadawanka Barracks, Bauchi, the army chief charged personnel to maintain a high level of combat readiness and intensify efforts to decisively engage threats within their areas of responsibility.
He emphasised that the activities of terrorists, bandits, and kidnappers have continued to displace innocent citizens, stressing that the military remains resolute in restoring peace and stability across affected communities.
The COAS stressed the importance of sustained operational pressure, professionalism, and tactical efficiency, noting that troops must dominate their operational environment and deny criminal elements freedom of action.

While reinforcing his command philosophy, Lt.-Gen. Shaibu assured personnel that the Nigerian Army would continue to provide necessary operational enablers and logistics to support ongoing missions, enabling troops to effectively prosecute the war against insecurity.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of soldiers and their families, describing morale and support systems as critical components of combat effectiveness. According to him, deliberate measures are being implemented to boost troop motivation, enhance efficiency, and strengthen overall operational performance.
Earlier, the COAS paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Bauchi, Suleiman Rilwanu, where he commended the traditional ruler for his continued support to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.
He called for sustained collaboration between the military and host communities, noting that collective efforts remain essential in eliminating banditry and other forms of criminality.
The army chief reiterated that ongoing operations across various theatres would be sustained with renewed vigour to ensure lasting peace and security nationwide.
