Troops Rescue Hostages, Recover 96 Rustled Livestock in Kaduna Operations
Troops of the Joint Task Force under Operation HADIN KAI have recorded significant operational successes in Kaduna State, rescuing kidnapped victims and foiling separate cattle rustling attempts across Birnin Gwari and Igabi Local Government Areas.
In the first incident, troops of the 2 Battalion deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Kuyello acted on credible intelligence of an attack on Lahin Dan Auta community in the Kuyello axis of Birnin Gwari LGA.
A military source said the troops mobilised to the scene at about 2:00 p.m. on March 27, where they engaged the assailants in a firefight.
The attackers were forced to flee in disarray upon sighting the advancing troops, abandoning three kidnapped victims and 12 rustled cattle. The victims were subsequently rescued unharmed and reunited with their families, while the recovered livestock were handed over to their rightful owners.

In a separate operation in Igabi Local Government Area, troops of the 4 Division Demonstration Battalion, operating from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Dumbi, foiled a large-scale cattle rustling attempt.
Acting on intelligence reports of suspected rustling activities at Pan Daudu settlement, troops established an ambush along a suspected escape route between Lamban Zango and Monday Market at about 5:30 a.m. on March 27.
According to the source, the suspected rustlers abandoned 84 stolen livestock and fled after encountering the troops’ position.
“The criminals fled in disarray on sighting troops, leaving behind 84 rustled livestock,” the source stated.
The recovered animals were later returned to their owners following standard verification procedures.
Military authorities confirmed that both operations underscore ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal networks involved in kidnapping and livestock theft across Kaduna State.
