Navy Troops Eliminate IPOB/ESN Bomb Cell, Destroy Explosives in Imo
The Nigerian Navy has neutralised a suspected bomb-making cell linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), during a clearance operation in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.
The operation, conducted by the Naval Base Oguta Tactical Patrol Squadron in collaboration with other security agencies, targeted identified criminal enclaves along the Orsu–Ihiteukwa axis, including the Mother Valley general area.
Naval authorities said troops encountered multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), confirming the existence of an active bomb-making network in the area.

According to a statement signed by the Director of Naval Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, further exploitation led to the discovery of an IED fabrication site. Troops subsequently executed a coordinated ambush, neutralising two suspected IED specialists linked to the network.
“All recovered explosives were safely destroyed in situ, effectively eliminating imminent threats to both civilians and security personnel,” the statement said.
The Navy noted that the operation was completed without casualties on the side of security forces, with all personnel and equipment accounted for.
While reaffirming its commitment to restoring stability in the South-East, the Service said it would sustain intelligence-driven operations in collaboration with other security agencies to dismantle criminal networks and deny them freedom of action
