Tinubu Appoints New PTDF Boss, Renews TCN MD’s Tenure
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of a new Executive Secretary for the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) and renewed the tenure of the Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
In a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President appointed Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu as the new PTDF Executive Secretary. He replaces Ahmed Galadima Aminu, who resigned to pursue his governorship ambition in Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 elections.
The President also renewed the appointment of Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of TCN for a second and final term. Both appointments take immediate effect.

Aliyu, a professor and seasoned academic, is expected to bring his extensive experience in research, education, and institutional leadership to bear in repositioning the PTDF. The Presidency said his appointment reflects Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening critical institutions in the petroleum sector and enhancing human capital development in Nigeria’s energy industry.
He is tasked with driving innovation and providing strategic support for the oil and gas sector in line with national priorities.
On the renewal of Abdulaziz’s tenure, the President cited his performance in overseeing Nigeria’s transmission network, noting improvements in grid stability, expansion of transmission capacity, and ongoing system modernisation.
With over three decades of experience in the power sector, Abdulaziz has also played a key role in advancing regional electricity integration through his leadership within the West African Power Pool.
President Tinubu urged both appointees to demonstrate diligence, integrity, and a strong commitment to national service in the discharge of their responsibilities, in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
