Troops Dislodge IPOB/ESN Elements in Enugu, Arrest 2 Operatives in Anambra
Troops conducting coordinated security operations in the South-East have disrupted suspected activities of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Enugu State, while also arresting two suspected members of the group in Anambra State.
In Enugu, joint troops carried out an offensive patrol in Ezeagu Local Government Area on March 31, targeting suspected militant movements within the Ajali Forest axis. The operation, led by troops of Sector 1 in collaboration with the 82 Division Garrison and 103 Battalion (Rear), followed actionable intelligence indicating the presence of armed elements in the area.
Security sources said the suspected militants fled upon sighting the advancing troops, avoiding direct confrontation. Troops subsequently maintained dominance of the general area through sustained patrols aimed at denying the group freedom of movement and regrouping.
Meanwhile, in Anambra State, troops under Operation UDO KA arrested two suspected IPOB/ESN members during separate intelligence-led operations on the same day.

The suspect, said to be a native of Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government Area, was intercepted following credible intelligence.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect allegedly served as a nurse providing medical support to operatives at a suspected camp in Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area. Items recovered from him included two mobile phones, a handbag containing drugs, jewellery and a phone charger.
In a related operation, troops at a checkpoint in Umunze arrested another suspect identified as a native of Ogbunka in Orumba South LGA. According to security sources, the suspect allegedly admitted membership of the proscribed group during initial interrogation.

The operations reflect ongoing efforts by security forces to disrupt insurgent networks, limit their operational capacity, and enhance stability across the South-East region.
