Troops Kill 8 Terrorists in Borno, Foil Attack, Arrest Suspects in Adamawa
Troops of the Nigerian Army have recorded fresh operational successes in the North-East, arresting three suspected terrorists in Adamawa State and neutralising eight others in Borno State in coordinated operations.
In Adamawa, troops of the 232 Battalion (Tactical), working in collaboration with local hunters, apprehended three suspects during a cordon-and-search operation in Mubi North Local Government Area.
Security sources said the operation, conducted around 1:15 a.m. on April 1 in the Angwan Rami area, followed credible intelligence on terrorist activities.
The suspects—identified as Ado John, 27; Umaru Yunusa, 22; and Alhaji Saleh Mamman Ibrahim, 44—were arrested and are currently in military custody for further investigation.
Preliminary findings indicated that the trio are linked to terrorist elements operating in the area. One of the suspects, Ibrahim, previously documented as a repentant insurgent, allegedly confessed to involvement in past attacks, including an operation in Ngoshe, Borno State.

He was also reported to have acted as a double agent and allegedly planned an attack on a military formation in Mubi with the aim of seizing weapons.
In a separate operation in Borno, troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade, supported by the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and hybrid forces, neutralised eight suspected terrorists in Bama Local Government Area.
The operation took place at about 2:06 a.m. around the Gadangari axis, near Government Girls Secondary School, following a planned ambush targeting insurgents and their logistics network.
According to sources, troops intercepted suspected collaborators moving towards the Yale axis and engaged them in a firefight, resulting in the killing of eight terrorists, while others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.
Follow-up operations are ongoing to track fleeing suspects and dismantle remaining logistics structures supporting insurgent activities in the area.
Military authorities said the operations underscore ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities and deny them freedom of movement across the North-East, while maintaining sustained pressure on insurgent networks.
