Troops Eliminate 2 Gunmen, Recover Weapons in Plateau
Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have neutralised two suspected armed gunmen during a coordinated ambush operation in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation was carried out on the evening of April 21, 2026, near Doruwa Babuje in the Marit general area, following intelligence reports on the movement of armed men accused of terrorising communities through violent attacks, sexual assault and armed robbery.
Military sources said troops laid in wait for the suspects and launched the ambush at about 7:49 p.m. when the gunmen entered the targeted location.

During the ensuing exchange of gunfire, two of the suspects were killed, while others reportedly escaped into nearby bushes under the cover of darkness.
A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of a locally fabricated rifle, five rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, a cutlass, a jackknife and a mobile phone.
Security personnel have since maintained their presence around Marit and Lajam villages as efforts continue to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks on residents.
The task force reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property in the area and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to the nearest security formation.
