Troops Arrest Illegal Arms Manufacturers in Plateau, Nab Suspected Terrorists in Niger
Troops have recorded fresh operational successes in Plateau and Niger states with the arrest of suspected illegal arms manufacturers and terror suspects in separate operations aimed at strengthening internal security.
In Plateau State, security operatives raided a criminal hideout in Langtang North Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of two suspected illegal arms fabricators. The operation, carried out around 5:00 p.m. on April 22 at Gwandanu Village, followed credible intelligence indicating ongoing illicit weapons production in the area.
Sources disclosed that the suspects were apprehended while actively engaged in manufacturing firearms. Recovered items include two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, two generating sets, a welding machine, a drilling machine, a hand filer, and a toolbox.

Meanwhile, in Niger State, troops operating under Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD arrested two suspected terrorists during a routine patrol in Borgu Local Government Area. The suspects were apprehended at about 5:00 p.m. on April 20 at Babanna Market by personnel deployed at the Forward Operating Base in Babanna.
Items recovered from the suspects include one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, two mobile phones, and other personal effects.
Military sources confirmed that all four suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.
The operations form part of ongoing efforts by security forces to dismantle illegal arms networks, suppress terrorist activities, and enhance safety across affected regions. Troops have also intensified clearance operations to recover illicit weapons and disrupt criminal elements operating within these areas.
