Troops Foil Terrorist Attack on Kanama Community, Eliminate 4 Insurgents
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled an attempted infiltration by Boko Haram/ISWAP into Kanama town in Borno State, neutralising four insurgents during a rapid response operation.
According to security sources, the incident occurred at about 6:00 p.m. on April 22, when troops of the 159 Battalion, stationed in Kanama, responded to gunfire reported within the community.

Upon arrival, the troops confirmed that insurgents had breached parts of the town. They swiftly engaged the attackers with coordinated and sustained firepower, forcing the terrorists to withdraw in disarray.
A follow-up clearance operation led to the neutralisation of four insurgents within the area.
During the encounter, one member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) sustained injuries and has since been evacuated for medical treatment.
No military equipment was lost in the operation.
Items recovered from the fleeing insurgents include two torchlight mobile phones and a cash sum of ₦21,000.
Security sources indicated that while the overall situation across the theatre remains relatively calm, it is still volatile. They, however, noted that troops maintain high morale and operational effectiveness.
