Army Kill Terrorist, Recover Weapons in Kogi Ambush
Troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have neutralised a suspected terrorist and recovered arms and ammunition during an ambush operation conducted in Adankolo Forest Reserve in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of Sunday, followed credible intelligence on the movement of suspected terrorists within the area.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, troops of the 12 Brigade Quick Response Group laid ambush at a suspected crossing point used by terrorists within the forest reserve.

The statement said the troops made contact with the terrorists during the operation, leading to a firefight in which one terrorist was neutralised, while others reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds into the surrounding bush.
Items recovered from the scene included two AK-47 rifles, one locally fabricated pistol, six magazines and 145 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
Other recovered items were one camouflage bandolier, a Honda motorcycle, Diclofenac medication, three mobile phones, three power banks and the sum of N62,900.
The Nigerian Army said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts under Operation TIGER PAW II aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action and strengthening security along major routes and communities in Kogi State and adjoining areas.
It added that troops were currently exploiting the area to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
