Ladi Hassan Declares for Kwara Governorship, Picks PDP Nomination Forms Ahead of 2027
A prominent chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Kwara State, Ladi Hassan, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election after obtaining the party’s Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at the PDP secretariat.
The declaration, which drew a large crowd of party supporters and loyalists, marked what political observers described as a major step in the build-up to the 2027 governorship race in Kwara State.
The PDP secretariat witnessed a festive atmosphere on Monday as Hassan arrived with a massive entourage of supporters chanting slogans, drumming and dancing in celebration of his formal entry into the contest.
Party faithful described the development as a significant moment for the opposition party as it intensifies preparations ahead of the next general elections.
Receiving the aspirant at the secretariat, the state chairman of the People’s Democratic Party praised Hassan’s contributions to the party and Kwara State, describing him as a committed and distinguished leader.
The chairman also offered prayers for Hassan’s success in the governorship race and commended his longstanding loyalty to the PDP.

Speaking shortly after collecting the forms, Hassan expressed appreciation to the party leadership and supporters for their confidence and encouragement.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals and vision of the PDP, pledging to abide by all resolutions and internal processes of the party throughout the electoral period.
“I am fully committed to the PDP’s vision for Kwara. With unity and determination, I am confident that our party will secure victory in 2027 and usher in an era of inclusive growth and prosperity,” he said.
Hassan further stressed the need for unity within the party, noting that collective commitment and cooperation among members would be critical to reclaiming power in the state.
Supporters at the event described his declaration as more than a personal political ambition, saying it represented renewed hope for many residents seeking alternative leadership and broader development across Kwara State.
Political stakeholders believe Hassan’s entry into the race could further energise opposition politics in the state as parties gradually begin consultations, alignments and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
