Troops Kill Lakurawa Terrorists, Recover Arms, Rustled Livestock in Sokoto, Katsina
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised several suspected Lakurawa terrorists, recovered weapons, and rescued rustled livestock during separate offensive operations conducted in Sokoto and Katsina states.
The operations, according to military authorities, form part of ongoing intensified offensives against terrorism and banditry across the North-West region.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt.-Col. Olaniyi Osoba, troops responded to a distress call over an attempted attack by members of the Lakurawa Terrorist Group (LTG) on a Nigerian Immigration Service facility at Ruwa Wiri Village in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The statement said troops swiftly mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, during which two terrorists were neutralised while others reportedly fled following sustained military firepower.
“Subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and a motorcycle,” the statement added.
In a separate operation in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, troops on fighting patrol reportedly encountered suspected terrorists moving with rustled livestock at Danya Bakwai Settlement.
The troops engaged the criminals, forcing them to abandon the livestock and flee the scene.
According to the military, a total of 62 rustled animals were recovered during the operation.
The recovered livestock were later handed over to their rightful owners at the palace of the Daddara District Head in Jibia LGA.
The military reaffirmed that Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains committed to eliminating terrorism and banditry in the region and urged members of the public to continue providing credible intelligence to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
