Military Foils Terror Attacks, Rescues Abductees l in North-East Offensives
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded major operational successes across Nigeria’s North-East, including the foiling of coordinated terrorist attacks, neutralisation of insurgents, rescue of abducted civilians, and recovery of arms and ammunition, military authorities have said.
The Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday by the Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba.
According to the statement, troops operating in conjunction with Operation DESERT SANITY V/Siege Operations sustained aggressive offensives against Boko Haram and ISWAP elements across Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, while also ensuring peaceful Eid-el-Adha celebrations in the region.
In one of the major breakthroughs, troops successfully thwarted coordinated terrorist activities along the Buratai–Chara axis in Borno State after surveillance systems detected a large movement of insurgents.
“The troops swiftly engaged the hostile elements with offensive fire, forcing them to withdraw in disarray,” the statement said.
Quick Response Forces subsequently pursued the fleeing terrorists, inflicting significant casualties and recovering 169 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. No casualty was recorded among the troops.
Similarly, troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, carried out a successful ambush operation around Kasaicia village in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation led to the killing of four Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, while two AK-47 rifles and empty magazines were recovered.
Troops of Sector 1 OPHK also repelled another terrorist attack along the Kirawa axis, inflicting heavy casualties on the insurgents while maintaining control of the area.
The military further disclosed that coordinated offensives were conducted along the Damboa–Kanama, Damboa–Gwoza, Goniri axis and Forward Operating Base Azir corridors to deny terrorists freedom of movement.
