Army Busts IPOB/ESN Arms Cache in Enugu Operation
Troops of the 82 Division Garrison, operating under Sector 1 of Operation UDO KA in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), Enugu State Command, have uncovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition during a coordinated intelligence-driven operation in Enugu State.
The operation, carried out on 9 June 2026 under Operation EASTERN SANITY II, followed actionable intelligence obtained from previously arrested suspects linked to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
Security operatives stormed a concealed hideout located in Gariki, Enugu South Local Government Area, where arms were reportedly hidden inside a structure disguised as a piggery. A detailed search of the site led to the recovery of a substantial stockpile of weapons and ammunition.

Items recovered include General Purpose Machine Guns, an RPG-7 launcher tube, AK-47 rifles, hand grenades, tear gas guns with cartridges, AK-47 magazines, as well as 270 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition and 478 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
Following the operation, the recovered weapons and arrested suspects were handed over to the DSS Enugu State Command for further investigation and prosecution in accordance with existing legal procedures.
Security authorities described the operation as a product of effective inter-agency collaboration, noting that it reflects sustained efforts to disrupt armed networks and strengthen stability in the South-East region.
They further reaffirmed the commitment of Operation UDO KA to continued offensive operations against criminal elements threatening public safety and national security, while urging members of the public to support ongoing security efforts by providing timely and credible intelligence to relevant agencies.
