Troops Eliminate Terrorist, Rescue Kidnap Victims, Recover Arms in Zamfara Operations
Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fasan Yamma, have neutralized a terrorist, rescued three kidnapped victims and recovered arms, ammunition and other logistics during ongoing counter-banditry operations in Zamfara State.
The military disclosed that the successes were recorded during operations conducted across Zurmi and Shinkafi Local Government Areas as part of sustained efforts to eliminate terrorist and bandit activities in the state.
According to the military, troops on a fighting patrol covering Birnin Saba, Yanbuki and Sabon Garin Daudawa communities in Zurmi Local Government Area on June 12, 2026, encountered a group of terrorists in Yanbuki District.

A fierce gun battle ensued, during which the troops neutralized one terrorist and recovered several items, including rifles, four magazines loaded with ammunition, two motorcycles, seven mobile phones and two MP3 players. Troops also recovered a woodland camouflage trouser and an inner vest believed to belong to the fleeing terrorists.
The military said that as the patrol advanced towards Sabon Garin Daudawa, the terrorists abandoned their camp and fled upon sighting the advancing troops and realizing the overwhelming firepower at their disposal.
The troops subsequently cleared the area and completely destroyed the terrorist enclave, denying the criminals a safe haven for future operations.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations across Zamfara State and other parts of the North-West to dismantle terrorist networks, secure communities and restore lasting peace in the region.
The latest operation forms part of ongoing efforts by Operation Fasan Yamma to combat banditry, rescue kidnapped victims and enhance security across the theatre of operations.
