Gombe Stakeholders Back Jamil Gwamna, Launch Reconciliation Committee
Prominent political leaders from Gombe State have backed Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna as their preferred governorship candidate for the 2027 Gombe State governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The endorsement was announced at a high-level Gombe State Stakeholders’ Engagement held in Abuja and chaired by the Special Adviser to the Vice President on General Duties, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar.
The gathering brought together an influential cross-section of Gombe indigenes to deliberate on the state’s political future and preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The resolutions were conveyed in a statement signed by Ibrahim Sani Shawai, Spokesperson to Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna.
After extensive deliberations, the stakeholders unanimously adopted a series of resolutions aimed at strengthening the APC’s electoral prospects and promoting unity across the state.
The meeting’s major outcome was the unanimous endorsement of Dr. Gwamna as the stakeholders’ preferred governorship candidate, citing his leadership qualities, vision, competence and commitment to peace, inclusive governance and sustainable development.
The forum also reaffirmed that the Gombe State Stakeholders’ Engagement platform would remain a voluntary consultative body established to complement the efforts of the APC, the Gombe State Government, elected officials and other political actors rather than operate as a parallel political structure.
Participants stressed that the platform would continue to serve as a mechanism for consultation, consensus-building and strategic support for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

To strengthen its operations, the stakeholders approved the establishment of Political and Technical Directorates that will coordinate stakeholder engagement, policy development, political mobilisation, research and strategic communication.
The meeting also constituted a High-Powered Reconciliation and Stakeholders’ Engagement Committee tasked with reaching out to former governorship aspirants and their supporters to foster reconciliation, deepen party unity and strengthen cohesion within the APC.
As part of its broader political strategy, the forum resolved to intensify grassroots mobilisation across all local government areas, wards and polling units, encourage voter registration and civic participation, sustain engagement with communities and promote issue-based politics founded on competence, integrity, inclusiveness and evidence-based planning.
The stakeholders expressed confidence that the resolutions would consolidate support for the APC and reinforce efforts towards sustaining peace, stability and development in Gombe State.
Responding to the endorsement, Dr. Gwamna expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him, describing it as both an honour and a responsibility.
“Your endorsement strengthens our resolve to remain focused, disciplined and people-oriented in our mission. Together, we will ensure that development is not only sustained but expanded to reach every community, every household and every citizen,” he said.
Political observers say the endorsement by such a broad coalition of respected statesmen, former public office holders, senior military officers, diplomats, academics and business leaders represents a significant boost to Dr. Gwamna’s governorship aspiration as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
