Gombe Elders Endorse Pantami, Pledge to Mobilise Support for 2027 Governorship Bid
GOMBE — Prominent elders and political stakeholders in Gombe State have unanimously endorsed the governorship aspiration of Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, pledging to mobilise support across the state to ensure his victory in the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement was made during a high-level meeting of elders and stakeholders held in Gombe, where participants resolved to work collectively towards what they described as a shared vision for the future of the state.
The gathering attracted more than 50 respected personalities, including the Magajin Garin Gombe, Alhaji Bala Magaji, and the Chairman of the Elders’ Forum, Hon. Hassan Ahmadu Haruna, a former member of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State.
Other notable participants included Alhaji Hamidu Yagide, Alhaji Halilu Galadima, a former commissioner, Alhaji Abu Zarma, Mr. Ahmad Yaro Tula, pioneer Secretary of the PDP in Gombe State, Alhaji Usman Mabruk, former Head of Service, Mr. Eli Ekeme, also a former Head of Service, businessman Alhaji Ahmadu D.K., Alhaji Sambo Sa’ad, the Tolban Dukku, and several other senior political leaders and community stakeholders.

During the meeting, participants reflected on the developmental strides recorded during the PDP’s 16-year administration in Gombe State, describing the period as one that laid a strong foundation for governance and socio-economic development.
Following extensive deliberations, the elders unanimously resolved to support Professor Pantami’s governorship ambition, citing his integrity, leadership qualities, academic excellence and extensive public service experience.
They noted that Pantami’s credentials as a former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, former Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and university professor have adequately prepared him for the task of leading Gombe State.
The stakeholders also highlighted what they described as his numerous contributions to the development of the state, including facilitating more than 241 developmental interventions and creating employment opportunities for many Gombe indigenes through federal appointments and other empowerment initiatives.
According to the elders, these achievements demonstrate Pantami’s commitment to the welfare and development of his home state, making him a worthy candidate for the governorship.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to unity, peaceful political engagement and collective efforts towards building a more prosperous Gombe State.
The participants expressed optimism that, through purposeful leadership and collaboration, the state would continue on the path of sustainable development, creating a legacy that future generations would be proud to inherit.
