Gombe PDP Aspirant Withdraws Court Case, Backs Pantami’s Governorship Bid
A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State, Hon. Monica Yahaya Kaltho, has withdrawn from the court case challenging the outcome of the party’s governorship primary election and declared her support for the party’s candidate, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami.
Kaltho was among the aspirants who had initially challenged the conduct and outcome of the primary election, in which Pantami emerged as the sole candidate for affirmation.
Announcing her decision, Kaltho said she withdrew from the legal action following consultations and in deference to an appeal by the leader of the PDP in Gombe State, former Governor Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, who urged her to discontinue the suit in the interest of party unity.
She described Dankwambo as a respected leader and father figure whose advice she values, noting that the unity of the PDP and the progress of Gombe State should take precedence over personal ambition.

According to her, party members must remain committed to the collective objective of repositioning the PDP ahead of the 2027 governorship election and offering quality leadership to the people of the state.
Kaltho also pledged to work for the victory of the PDP and its governorship candidate, Professor Pantami, in the 2027 election.
Reacting to the development, Pantami commended Kaltho for what he described as her maturity, patriotism and commitment to the unity of the party.
He assured her that she remained a valued stakeholder in the PDP and pledged that all members would be carried along in efforts to strengthen the party and prepare for the 2027 governorship poll.
As part of efforts to consolidate reconciliation within the party, Pantami paid Kaltho a courtesy visit at her residence, where he expressed appreciation for her decision to withdraw the court case and support the party’s collective interest.
He described her action as a demonstration of statesmanship and a sacrifice made for the unity of the PDP and the development of Gombe State.
The development is expected to bolster ongoing reconciliation efforts within the Gombe State chapter of the PDP as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
