Lagos Police Nab 147 Suspected Criminals, Recover 250 Cartridges, Machetes in Major Anti-Crime Raid
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 147 suspected criminals and recovered 250 expanded cartridges, 22 machetes, illicit drugs and other dangerous items during a major raid on criminal hideouts across parts of the state under the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE III.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of Sunday, July 19, targeted identified criminal hideouts at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo and other black spots following credible intelligence, according to a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi.
The police said the coordinated raid, conducted by a joint team of operatives drawn from various formations of the command, was aimed at flushing out hoodlums and other criminal elements allegedly terrorising the affected communities.
During the operation, officers arrested 147 suspects and recovered 250 expanded cartridges, 22 machetes, five battle axes, two knives, a pair of scissors, a lighter, assorted charms, and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
The command disclosed that all the suspects are in police custody while investigations are ongoing to determine their individual roles in criminal activities. It added that those found culpable would be charged to court.
Commending the operatives for their professionalism and dedication, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining Operation KO S’AYE across the state.
He said the operation would continue to target criminal hideouts with the objective of denying criminals safe havens and enhancing the safety and security of residents.
The police commissioner also appealed to members of the public to support ongoing security efforts by providing timely and credible intelligence that could assist the command in identifying criminal hideouts, apprehending offenders and preventing crime across Lagos State.
The Lagos State Police Command assured residents of its resolve to maintain the ongoing clearance operations as part of broader efforts to strengthen public safety and security throughout the state.
