Military Neutralises ISWAP Fighter, Arrest Suspected Terrorists Scout in Borno, Yobe Operations
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded fresh successes in ongoing counter-terrorism operations across Borno and Yobe states, neutralising a suspected ISWAP fighter in a precision airstrike and arresting a suspected terrorist scout during a coordinated ambush operation.
Military and intelligence sources said the operations form part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and deny insurgents freedom of movement across the North-East.
In Borno State, personnel at the Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) in Logomani and Gajibo detected the movement of suspected ISWAP terrorists towards the Marte general area at about 6:46 p.m. on July 17.
Acting on the intelligence, troops deployed an aerial surveillance platform which tracked the movement of the suspects before carrying out a precision strike on a terrorist riding a motorcycle. The suspect was killed instantly.
Ground troops subsequently exploited the target area and recovered four rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition believed to have belonged to the neutralised insurgent.

In a separate operation in Yobe State, troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade Garrison, working in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and Forest Guards, arrested a suspected ISWAP/Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) scout during an ambush operation behind Buni Yadi in Gujba Local Government Area.
The operation, conducted at about 2:00 a.m. on July 18, followed credible intelligence on the movement of suspected terrorist scouts and informants in the area.
Security personnel laid an ambush along the suspected route, leading to the arrest of an injured suspect believed to have been serving as a scout and intelligence operative for the terrorist group.
Troops also recovered three bicycles suspected to have been used by the terrorists for movement and reconnaissance during the operation.
One member of the Forest Guards sustained injuries during the operation and was immediately evacuated to a medical facility for treatment.
The arrested suspect is currently in custody and is expected to provide valuable intelligence to support ongoing operations against ISWAP and JAS cells operating across the North-East, while security forces have intensified efforts to track down other fleeing members of the network.
The latest operations underscore the continued momentum of Operation HADIN KAI’s intelligence-driven campaign to degrade terrorist capabilities, disrupt their support structures and enhance security across the North-East.
