NAF Surgical Drone Strike Eliminates Over 20 ISWAP Fighters, Destroys Logistics Base in Lake Chad
The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) has dealt a major blow to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), killing more than 20 fighters and destroying a key logistics hub during a precision drone strike in the Southern Lake Chad axis of Borno State.
Intelligence sources revealed that the strike, carried out on July 21 at Kila Bariya, targeted a strategic terrorist assembly and logistics point following credible intelligence indicating the presence of insurgents and critical operational supplies.
A post-strike Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) confirmed that more than 20 ISWAP fighters were neutralised, while several others sustained serious injuries in the precision engagement.
The assessment further revealed that the strike destroyed more than 30 newly acquired motorcycles, most of them brand new and reportedly intended to enhance the group’s mobility during future attacks across the Lake Chad region.
Also destroyed was a major ISWAP food storage facility containing large quantities of beans and other food supplies allegedly confiscated or forcibly collected from farming communities in the Southern Lake Chad area.

Military sources described the operation as one of the most successful precision strikes conducted in recent weeks, noting that it significantly degraded the terrorist group’s logistics, mobility and sustainment capabilities.
According to a senior military source, the destruction of the motorcycles is expected to severely limit the terrorists’ ability to conduct rapid raids, reinforce frontline positions and manoeuvre across the difficult terrain of the Lake Chad Basin. The loss of the food stockpile, the source added, will further undermine the group’s capacity to sustain prolonged operations.
Security analysts believe the operation could significantly alter the operational environment in the Southern Lake Chad axis, particularly around Marte, Ngala and Dikwa Local Government Areas, where ISWAP has continued attempts to regroup and expand its influence.
The successful operation underscores the Nigerian military’s sustained air campaign under Operation HADIN KAI, which integrates precision intelligence, persistent surveillance and targeted air interdiction to dismantle terrorist infrastructure, disrupt logistics and command networks, and deny insurgents freedom of movement across the North-East.
