Troops Arrest 5 Suspected Terrorist Logistics Suppliers, Seize Medical Supplies in Borno
Troops of the 112 Task Force Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI, working alongside Hybrid Forces, have arrested five suspected members of a terrorist logistics network during a security operation in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The operation, conducted at about 1:30 p.m. on July 20, led to the interception of a large consignment of veterinary drugs, medical supplies and other items believed to be part of a suspected logistics chain supporting terrorist activities.
According to Operation HADIN KAI, the suspects were apprehended while transporting 491 cartons of Albe Stark 2.5 per cent dewormer and 100 cartons of multivitamin injections for animals without the required waybills or supporting documentation.
A search of the vehicles also uncovered concealed medical supplies, including 32 cartons of Diclofenac Sodium Injection, 58 cartons of Benzylpenicillin Sodium BP, six cartons of Dexamethasone Injection, and 51 cartons of Metronidazole Intravenous Infusion.
Other items recovered included 30 units of 80-inch LG plasma televisions, 152 empty Bagco sacks, and seven mobile phones.
Military authorities said preliminary investigations indicated that the consignment was destined for a vendor in N’Djamena, Chad Republic, while part of the concealed medical supplies was to be transferred into another truck near the Nigeria-Chad border in what appeared to be an attempt to evade security checks and conceal the movement of the cargo.
The five suspects have been taken into the custody of the 24 Task Force Brigade for further investigation.
Operation HADIN KAI described the interception as a major breakthrough in its ongoing campaign to dismantle terrorist logistics and support networks across the North-East.
The military said the operation had disrupted a suspected supply chain that could have provided resources to terrorist groups, stressing that denying such networks access to logistics remains critical to degrading their operational capabilities and limiting their freedom of movement.
The Joint Task Force reiterated its commitment to identifying and dismantling all networks that directly or indirectly support terrorist activities in the region.
It also advised pharmaceutical distributors, transporters, healthcare providers, humanitarian organisations and other stakeholders moving bulk medical, pharmaceutical or agrochemical consignments within the North-East to ensure all shipments are properly documented and, where necessary, coordinated with relevant military authorities.
According to the military, the measure is intended to facilitate legitimate commercial and humanitarian operations while preventing terrorist groups from exploiting supply chains.
Operation HADIN KAI further appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible and timely intelligence to security agencies, noting that public cooperation remains essential to disrupting terrorist logistics networks and sustaining peace and security across the North-East.
