Army Declares Soldier Wanted Over Alleged Sale of Military Uniforms to Terrorists
The Nigerian Army has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC), the Army said preliminary investigations revealed that the soldier, who was serving at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, absconded from his unit on June 3, 2026.
According to the statement, Amutu has since been declared wanted by the appropriate military authorities, while efforts have been intensified to locate and apprehend him for a comprehensive investigation and possible disciplinary action in line with extant military laws.

The Army said the allegations against the soldier are being treated with utmost seriousness, stressing that anyone found to have aided terrorists or criminal groups through the unauthorised sale, diversion or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled items would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.
Reaffirming its commitment to discipline and accountability, the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps stated that it maintains zero tolerance for misconduct, indiscipline or any act capable of undermining the operational effectiveness, integrity and reputation of the Nigerian Army or threatening national security.
The Corps appealed to members of the public to assist security agencies by providing credible information that could lead to the arrest of the wanted soldier. It urged anyone with useful information to report to the nearest military formation or any security agency.
The statement further assured Nigerians of the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding military assets and strengthening internal control mechanisms to prevent the unauthorised diversion of military equipment.
It added that all allegations of misconduct involving personnel would continue to be thoroughly investigated, with those found culpable held accountable in accordance with the law.
