DSS Rescues 4 Abducted Poly Students in Zamfara, Eliminate Suspects
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have rescued the four remaining students of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, who were abducted by armed bandits in Zamfara State, bringing an end to weeks of uncertainty over their fate.
The operation came just days after the DSS secured the release of a professor of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, in another successful rescue mission.
Security sources said the students were rescued late Wednesday during an intelligence-led operation carried out by DSS operatives. No ransom was paid for their release.
During the operation, one suspected kidnapper was arrested, while other members of the criminal gang were neutralised.

The students were among six persons abducted on June 3, 2026, when heavily armed bandits invaded their off-campus hostel in the Low-Cost area of Kaura Namoda town and whisked them away.
Two of the abducted students had regained their freedom earlier under separate circumstances, leaving four still in captivity.
Following the earlier release, security agencies intensified intelligence gathering and coordinated rescue efforts, culminating in the successful recovery of the remaining students.
The rescued students have since been reunited with their families, bringing relief to the institution, relatives and the wider Kaura Namoda community.
The latest operation underscores the continued deployment of intelligence-driven tactics by security agencies to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes in parts of the country.
