Troops Nab 5 Suspected IPOB/ESN Militants in Imo
Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested five suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), during a security operation in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.
The suspects were apprehended during a surveillance operation conducted by troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade at Etuekwa Left in Orsu LGA at about 9:30 a.m. on July 23.
Security sources said the troops intercepted the suspects at a secluded location believed to serve as a movement corridor frequently used by IPOB/ESN operatives.

The five suspects have since been taken into custody for further interrogation aimed at establishing their identities, determining their specific roles and ascertaining any involvement in the activities of the separatist group.
Military sources said the operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to dismantle IPOB/ESN networks, disrupt their operational routes and strengthen security across the South-East region.
The latest operation underscores the military’s sustained campaign against armed separatist elements and other criminal groups threatening peace and stability in the region.
