Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda Advancing Technology, Manufacturing – FG
The Federal Government has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is driving technological advancement, local manufacturing, innovation and job creation as part of efforts to transform Nigeria into a productive and self-reliant economy.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this on Tuesday during the Presidential Media Team Tour of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) in Abuja.
Idris said the Renewed Hope Agenda was translating government policies into tangible projects, jobs, innovation and economic opportunities across the country.
“We want Nigerians to see for themselves how government policies are being translated into tangible projects, jobs, innovation and opportunities. Transparency is strengthened when government institutions actively engage the public, while accountability is enhanced when citizens can independently verify progress,” the Minister said.
He described NASENI as a strategic institution in the Federal Government’s industrial transformation agenda, noting that its interventions span local manufacturing, renewable energy, agricultural mechanisation, digital technology and skills development.
According to him, President Tinubu’s vision is to build a productive and self-reliant economy anchored on innovation, local value addition and industrial competitiveness.
“Our vision is clear: to move Nigeria from being primarily a consumer nation to becoming a nation of producers, innovators and exporters,” Idris said.
The Minister said industrialisation, technology and youth empowerment remained central to the Renewed Hope Agenda, adding that the administration was focused on creating an enabling environment for investment, enterprise and sustainable job creation.

He commended the management and staff of NASENI for advancing indigenous technology and engineering solutions aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s productive capacity and reducing dependence on imports.
Idris also said the Presidential Media Team Tour was designed to give Nigerians firsthand access to government projects and programmes, describing the initiative as part of the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
He commended members of the media team for supporting efforts to provide Nigerians with factual, balanced and firsthand reports on the implementation of government programmes before declaring the tour of NASENI officially open.
Earlier, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, said the agency was implementing a practical industrialisation strategy focused on local manufacturing, technology transfer, healthcare innovation and the commercialisation of research.
Halilu said NASENI’s interventions currently cover eight key industrial sectors, with projects spread across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory.
“Our goal is to build sustainable industries by designing products for the Nigerian market, assembling them locally, gradually increasing local content and creating factories that can compete globally. That is how we have been able to establish more than 20 factories within a short period,” he said.
The NASENI chief executive said the agency’s approach was aimed at transforming research and engineering innovations into commercially viable products while expanding local industrial capacity.
The Presidential Media Team Tour is part of the Federal Government’s effort to showcase projects and programmes being implemented under the Renewed Hope Agenda and enable Nigerians to independently assess their impact.
