NITDA, Women Educators Partner to Advance Digital Literacy, STEM Education
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is partnering with the National Association of Women in Colleges of Education to launch a nationwide digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and STEM training initiative aimed at empowering female educators and their students.
Presenting the proposal at NITDA Headquarters, North-West Zonal Coordinator Zainab Inuwa Adamu formally invited the Director-General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi to serve as Patron for the Associations’s upcoming national conference.
She emphasised the association’s over three-decade legacy of protecting female educators and empowering young girls through hands-on vocational workshops in skills like tailoring, knitting and soap-making.

During a meeting at NITDA Headquarters, the association’s North-West Zonal Coordinator, Zainab Inuwa Adamu, invited Director-General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi CCIE to serve as patron, at their forthcoming national conference of Federal Colleges of Education.
DG Inuwa welcomed the invitation and stressed the value of lasting capacity building over one-off support. He proposed designing digital literacy and IT skills programmes for the Association members, with a nationwide rollout that could be launched at the conference. The initiative would also cover digital marketing, business planning and entrepreneurship training to strengthen women’s economic ventures, while cascading mentorship opportunities to the girls they support.
Underscoring NITDA’s gender-inclusive innovation agenda, the DG noted the need to expand the STEM pipeline so that more young women enter AI, data science and technology careers which offer high-value opportunities. He further committed to providing digital tools and learning materials, and invited the association to the Digital Nigeria Conference 2026.
Both sides affirmed their readiness to collaborate in empowering women educators and the next generation of Nigerian girls through technology.
