Troops Kill 2 Terrorists, Recover Rifle, Motorcycle in Plateau, Katsina
Troops conducting counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations in Plateau and Katsina states have neutralised two suspected terrorists, recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition, and foiled an attempt by another group to cross through a strategic route.
In Plateau State, troops of Sector 9, Operation Enduring Peace, neutralised two suspected local terrorists and recovered an AK-47 rifle during an operation in Nwur Village, Langtang North Local Government Area.
The operation, conducted on Monday, August 10, followed the arrest and interrogation of a suspected bandit by troops deployed in Shendam.
A military source said the suspect provided information on the location where his rifle had been concealed, prompting troops to mobilise with him to Nwur Village to recover the weapon.
The troops reportedly came under attack while approaching the location and engaged the attackers in a firefight.
During the encounter, two attackers, including the suspect who had accompanied the troops, were neutralised. The troops recorded no casualties.

The troops subsequently exploited the area and recovered an AK-47 rifle, one magazine and two rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.
The source said the attackers were local residents allegedly involved in terrorising communities in the area, adding that their activities had in some instances been attributed to Fulani bandits.
Troops are continuing clearance operations in the area to locate other members of the group who may have fled the scene.
Meanwhile, in Katsina State, troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, foiled an attempt by suspected terrorists to cross through Ruwan Lafiya in Kankara Local Government Area.
The troops encountered the group at a crossing point during a routine patrol on Monday and engaged them with firepower, forcing the terrorists to flee.
The fleeing suspects abandoned a Boxer motorcycle, which was subsequently recovered by the troops.
The troops have continued to dominate the area to prevent the terrorists from regrouping or returning to the location.
The operations underscore ongoing efforts by the military to disrupt armed groups, deny them freedom of movement and dismantle their networks across the affected areas.
