IMPR Launches PRNigeria Academy, Commissions Chalet for Young Communication Fellows

Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), publishers of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, has expanded its training infrastructure with the commissioning of a new residential chalet at the PRNigeria Academy, designed to accommodate technical staff, Young Communication Fellows and participants in its specialised professional programmes.
The facility was unveiled on Friday as part of activities marking the ongoing 2026 Young Communication Fellowship, reinforcing IMPR’s expanding investment in communication training, mentorship and professional development.
Speaking at the commissioning, IMPR Chief Executive Officer and PRNigeria Editor‑in‑Chief, Yushau A. Shuaib, said the chalet would serve as a conducive learning and living environment for young communicators undergoing intensive training under the fellowship and other IMPR capacity‑building initiatives.

He described the project as a continuation of IMPR’s long‑standing commitment to grooming the next generation of communication professionals and strengthening Nigeria’s media and public relations ecosystem.
“This fellowship is our modest way of contributing to the mentoring of young communicators,” Shuaib said. He added that the facility was donated by Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, Founder of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), in support of IMPR’s capacity‑building programmes.
Chairman of the IMPR Board and renowned communication strategist, Prof. Sule Ya’u Sule, advised the fellows to approach their careers with kindness, discipline and integrity, noting that these values would shape their long‑term success.
“The lesson from commissioning this space is the need to be kind in whatever you do. Doing so will definitely make you succeed,” he said.

Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Information Science, Prof. Saudat Abdulbaqi, encouraged the fellows to see communication not only as a profession but also as a pathway to entrepreneurship and job creation. She said communication skills could open additional opportunities beyond traditional employment.
“You can combine it with a public service job, so that by the time you want to quit, you already have something to fall back on,” she said.
Abdulbaqi praised IMPR for investing in young people, describing human capacity development as one of the most enduring contributions any organisation can make.
“The best investment one can make in life is investing in humanity,” she added.

Former Lagos NIPR Chairman and Chairman of the National Spokespersons Awards Organising Committee, Mr. Segun McMedal, commended PRNigeria for its sustained investment in young professionals. He urged the fellows to remain committed to learning, ethics and professionalism.
“We must commend PRNigeria for all it is doing in protecting the image of our country. And to the fellows, you must remain steadfast in your quest for knowledge and professionalism,” he said.

The commissioning of the residential chalet underscores IMPR’s growing commitment to professional development. Through the Young Communication Fellowship, emerging communicators receive hands‑on exposure to journalism, public relations, strategic communication, crisis management and digital media—preparing them for leadership roles in Nigeria’s evolving communication landscape.
