Makarfi Urges Muslims to Embrace Prophet’s Virtues, Pray for Nigeria at Eid-el-Maulud
Former Kaduna State Governor and Senator, Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, has felicitated with Muslims across Nigeria and the world on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud 1448 AH, urging them to uphold the virtues of peace, justice, humility and selflessness exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
In his Eid-el-Maulud goodwill message on Monday, Makarfi described the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as a historic event that transformed the course of human civilisation and remains a profound source of Allah’s mercy to mankind.
He said the celebration should serve not only as a moment of joy but also as an opportunity for deep reflection on the teachings and exemplary life of the Holy Prophet.
“As we rejoice and thank Allah (SWT) for the favour and blessings of Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) birth and his subsequent mission, it is imperative that we do not lose sight of the message he conveyed to humanity and imbibe the lessons from his life, teachings and character,” he said.
According to Makarfi, the Prophet’s message centred on total submission to Allah, peaceful coexistence, good neighbourliness, universal brotherhood, humility and selflessness—values he said remain essential for building a harmonious and prosperous society.

The former governor particularly highlighted the Prophet’s inclusive style of leadership, describing it as a model worthy of emulation, especially in diverse societies such as Nigeria.
He noted that Prophet Muhammad’s ability to unite Muslims, Jews and other communities in Madina under a system founded on justice, equity and mutual respect offers enduring lessons for contemporary leaders.
“The manner in which he brought the Jews of Madina, Muslims and other members of society under one umbrella of leadership remains a remarkable example of inclusivity, equity and mutual respect,” Makarfi stated.
He urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from these virtues by promoting tolerance, peaceful coexistence and respect across religious, ethnic and cultural divides in the interest of national unity and development.
Makarfi also called on citizens to use the occasion to pray fervently for Nigeria as it confronts various socio-economic and security challenges.
He prayed for divine guidance, wisdom and courage for the nation’s leaders, urging them to govern with justice, fairness and a genuine commitment to the country’s stability and progress.
“We should seize this moment to pray for our country and for our leaders to be granted the wisdom, righteousness, fortitude and sense of justice and fairness required to steer Nigeria towards peace, stability and sustainable development,” he said.
He wished Muslims a peaceful and spiritually rewarding Eid-el-Maulud celebration, praying that the occasion would strengthen national unity and inspire renewed commitment to the values of compassion, justice and service to humanity.
