Operation HADIN KAI: Air Strikes Destroy Two ISWAP Gun Trucks, Eliminates Several Fighters in Borno
Air platforms of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have destroyed two Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) gun trucks and inflicted casualties on the terrorist group during precision air strikes at Aduwa village in Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State.
The strikes, conducted on August 21, 2026, targeted suspected ISWAP fighters operating in the area as part of sustained military efforts to disrupt terrorist formations, logistics and freedom of movement across the Lake Chad axis.
According to intelligence sources, the strikes achieved significant effects, with personnel observed at the targeted location assessed to be ISWAP fighters.
Two terrorist gun trucks were reportedly destroyed in the operation, with one of the vehicles completely burnt during the attack.
Following the strikes, surviving ISWAP elements were observed attempting to evacuate casualties from the affected area.
Intelligence reports further indicated that the terrorists were seen towing another damaged vehicle while evacuating several wounded fighters around Gudumbali, apparently towards the Lake Chad area.

The movement was reportedly aimed at recovering wounded personnel and withdrawing surviving fighters from the area following the air strikes.
The exact number of terrorists killed or wounded was yet to be established, while efforts were ongoing to verify whether any senior ISWAP commanders were among those affected.
Further battle damage assessment and intelligence gathering are expected to provide a clearer picture of the casualties and extent of damage inflicted on the terrorist group.
The operation forms part of the sustained air and ground campaign by Operation HADIN KAI to degrade ISWAP’s command structures, fighting formations, logistics networks and freedom of movement across the North-East.
The destruction of the gun trucks is expected to further constrain the group’s capacity to conduct mobile attacks and transport fighters and weapons across the Lake Chad region.
Security sources said the operation underscores the importance of intelligence-led air operations in disrupting terrorist concentrations and forcing surviving elements to abandon their positions.
With troops maintaining pressure across the theatre, security forces are expected to sustain aerial surveillance and offensive operations to prevent surviving ISWAP fighters from regrouping and re-establishing their presence in the affected axis.
