HOSCON Backs FRSC Boss, Urges Continuity in Road‑Safety Reforms
The Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas and Pipeline Impacted States (HOSCON) has expressed strong support for the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, commending his leadership style and urging him to remain focused on his mandate despite criticism from detractors.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, HOSCON praised the Corps Marshal for what it described as his exemplary leadership, humility and commitment to fostering cordial relationships with host communities across the country.
The group said it considered it necessary to publicly acknowledge Mohammed’s professional approach and willingness to engage with communities hosting FRSC formations and operations.
According to HOSCON, the Corps Marshal has consistently demonstrated responsible and people-centred leadership by listening to and accommodating the legitimate concerns of host communities.
“His willingness to listen, engage and accommodate the legitimate concerns of host communities is a demonstration of responsible and people-oriented leadership. For this, we say thank you,” the organisation stated.
The statement, signed by HOSCON Federal Representative for Abia State, Engr. Kelechi Mbonu, noted that leadership of a critical national institution such as the FRSC inevitably attracts criticism and opposition, urging Mohammed not to allow such distractions to derail his focus.

The group maintained that the activities of critics could not diminish the positive impact of the Corps Marshal’s service to the nation.
“We encourage him to remain focused on the God-given responsibility entrusted to him and continue to provide the leadership required to make Nigerian roads safer,” the statement read.
HOSCON described the FRSC as a strategic institution responsible for protecting lives, preventing avoidable road fatalities and promoting discipline among road users, adding that the Corps Marshal should continue to discharge his duties with courage, fairness and dedication.
The organisation further described Mohammed as “the father of Nigerian roads,” saying it recognised the enormous responsibility associated with leading the nation’s road safety agency.
It also commended his efforts to strengthen collaboration between the FRSC and host communities, stressing that sustainable institutional success depends on mutual respect, understanding and partnership between government agencies and the communities they serve.
“Our message is simple: Do not be distracted. Do not be discouraged. Continue the good work. The people can see those who are genuinely working to serve the nation. History will ultimately distinguish between those who build and those who merely criticise,” HOSCON stated.
The group reaffirmed its confidence in Mohammed’s leadership and pledged its continued solidarity and support for the Corps Marshal as he pursues reforms aimed at improving road safety and enhancing the effectiveness of the Federal Road Safety Corps.
