Troops Disrupt Ransom Exchange, Rescue Kidnap Victim in Kebbi
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnapped woman and foiled a planned ransom exchange in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The operation was conducted on August 26, 2026, following credible intelligence indicating that terrorists were preparing to collect ransom for the woman, who was abducted from her farm in the area last month.
Acting on the intelligence, the troops swiftly mobilised to intercept the planned transaction.
According to a military statement, the terrorists opened fire after sighting the advancing troops but were quickly overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the security forces.
The ensuing engagement forced the criminals to retreat in disarray, leaving the hostage behind.

The troops subsequently secured the victim, who was found unharmed, and transported her to safety before reuniting her with her family in Danko-Wasagu LGA.
Following the successful rescue, the troops exploited the terrorists’ withdrawal route to ensure that the area was thoroughly secured before returning to base.
Meanwhile, in a related effort to sustain security in the region, troops conducted clearance and dominance patrols across parts of Ngaski Local Government Area.
The patrols were completed without incident, further strengthening security presence and denying criminal elements freedom of movement within the area.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains one of the military’s ongoing operations against terrorism and banditry in the North-West, with troops continuing offensive and intelligence-led operations aimed at protecting communities and rescuing abducted persons.
