PDP Gains Momentum in Gombe as Labour Party Chairman, Ex-Commissioner Defect with Supporters
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State has received a significant political boost following the defection of the Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in the state, Hon. Usman Sule Dauda, popularly known as Kalala, and former Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Hon. Shehu Abubakar Durbi, to the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The duo formally rejoined the PDP alongside their supporters during a reception organised by the party, describing their return as a strategic decision driven by confidence in the PDP’s governorship candidate, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami.
Hon. Durbi is a seasoned political figure who served twice as Commissioner for Lands and Survey in Gombe State and previously represented Gombe North Constituency in the Gombe State House of Assembly.
Hon. Kalala is also an experienced grassroots politician who represented Kaltungo West Constituency for two terms in the Gombe State House of Assembly. He had earlier served as PDP Chairman in Kaltungo Local Government Area before leaving the party to become the Gombe State Chairman of the Labour Party, a position he resigned before returning to the PDP.
