PHOTOS: Troops Dislodge Terrorists Camp, Neutralise 21 in Adamawa Onslaught
Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser Tactical Team, have neutralised more than 21 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists during a major offensive in the Kopre Mountain area of Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The operation, conducted in the early hours of August 27, 2026, also led to the dismantling and destruction of the terrorists’ camp and associated logistics infrastructure.
The offensive followed credible intelligence on the activities of terrorist elements operating in the rugged mountainous area and was carried out by personnel of the ONSA Tactical Team and newly inducted troops of 226 Battalion, recently deployed to Sector 4, Adamawa State.
According to a statement on the operation, the troops conducted a stealth insertion into the area, successfully navigated the difficult terrain and penetrated the terrorists’ enclave before launching a precision assault on the camp.

The operation was undertaken as part of intensified efforts to locate and rescue victims being held by the terrorists, including persons abducted from Mussa community in May 2026 and schoolchildren kidnapped from Lassa in June.
The troops reportedly engaged the terrorists in two separate encounters during the operation, resulting in the neutralisation of more than 21 insurgents.
Several other terrorists reportedly escaped from the area with gunshot wounds.
Following the engagements, the joint force established dominance over the area, dismantled the entire terrorist camp and destroyed its associated logistics infrastructure.
The operation is expected to further degrade the terrorists’ operational capabilities and disrupt their activities in the area, while search and rescue efforts for the abducted victims continue.
The offensive was conducted under the directive of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu Nam, as part of sustained military operations against terrorist groups in the North-East.
