Operation Hadin Kai: Troops eliminate 152 terrorists, arrest 142 in August
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have neutralised 152 terrorists and arrested 142 others, including suspected logistics suppliers, during counter-insurgency operations across the North-East between August 1 and 31, 2026.
The latest monthly operational figures indicate sustained military pressure on Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements, as troops intensified operations against terrorist formations, logistics networks and mobility capabilities across the theatre.
According to the operational summary, 219 terrorists also surrendered to the troops during the period under review, a development that the military said reflects the continued degradation of terrorist networks and an increasing willingness among some fighters to abandon the insurgency.
In support of the ground offensive, the Nigerian military conducted 10 successful air interdictions, targeting terrorist movements and logistics activities at various locations across the theatre.
The air operations complemented sustained ground operations designed to disrupt terrorist formations, supply routes and freedom of movement.
The troops also neutralised nine improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the period, denying terrorist elements the opportunity to deploy the devices against troops and civilians.

In the course of the operations, the troops recovered 58 weapons and explosive items, 1,184 rounds of ammunition and 16 mobility assets, including motorcycles, bicycles, tricycles and other vehicles allegedly linked to terrorist activities.
Other items recovered included 44 mobile phones, a video camcorder and N1,794,910 in cash, among other materials.
The military said the recovery of weapons, ammunition, communication devices, mobility assets and cash would further disrupt the terrorists’ operational, logistics and communication networks.
The surrender of 219 terrorists was also considered significant to the counter-insurgency campaign, as the development could provide security agencies with valuable intelligence on terrorist structures, hideouts, supply routes and operational activities.
The August operations combined kinetic measures, including ground offensives and air interdictions, with non-kinetic approaches aimed at encouraging terrorist fighters to surrender and weakening the support and logistics networks sustaining the insurgency.
The operational figures suggest that the sustained tempo of military operations has placed considerable pressure on terrorist manpower, weapons stockpiles, mobility and logistics capabilities across the North-East.
Operation HADIN KAI continues to lead the military’s counter-insurgency efforts to degrade Boko Haram and ISWAP elements and restore security and stability to communities affected by terrorism in the region.
The August results further underscore the importance of coordinated ground and air operations in disrupting terrorist activities and denying insurgents the freedom of action required to sustain their operations across the North-East.
