Lagos police arrest suspected armed robbers, recover 3 pistols, ammunition
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of an armed robbery and carjacking syndicate operating in the Alakuko area of the state.
The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Faruk Rasheed, 28-year-old Olamilekan Ademola and 21-year-old Abidemi Oluwawemo, were arrested by police operatives acting on credible intelligence as part of efforts to curb violent crimes across the state.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebesi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, saying preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects allegedly specialised in car snatching and robbing motorists and other members of the public of their valuables.

According to her, operatives tracked the suspects to Alakuko and subsequently arrested them.
A search conducted on the suspects, she said, resulted in the recovery of three locally made firearms and eight rounds of live ammunition.
The recovered weapons comprised two locally made pistols loaded with five cartridges and a locally made revolver pistol loaded with three rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
The suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the alleged syndicate.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and strengthening security across the state.
Fatai also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report emergencies and suspicious activities to the police.
